Cars of the Future

It has been an exciting year in the car industry with hybrid eco-friendly technology being implemented not only in the small commuters but the fast sports cars as well. However not everyone has forgotten their history.

In my opinion the most exciting reasonably priced car to be prototyped is the lightweight coupe formed from the new Toyota-Subaru partnership. Although little official details have been released, the sketch below is said to be a leaked concept for the car. Just imagine, the handling of a WRX STI, blended with the immense speed and reliability of a turbocharged supra; 'the perfect car' come to mind anyone? And things look like they are going that way. Although Toyota will handle and guide the project, the new car will have Subaru's Legendary AWD, and be powered by a turbo-charged 2.5L boxer engine; another Subaru hallmark.

I really is time for Toyota to bring back a car into the sports car market. After the amazing trio of supra, MR2 and celica all ended by 2006, it seems like forever since we have been able to check the new specs of an updated version. Interestingly, at this stage the new car will be badged and sold separately once released, with both a Toyota and Subaru version planned.

Almost in response to this, it is rumored that Nissan will be releasing their own sporty small car to replace the Silvia. With the stunning new GTR costing around $160k, I suppose they have chosen to target a different market with this. Like the Toyota/Subaru, it will have a small (probably turbocharged) engine and be a little more expensive than it's opposition. There are also rumors that it will be a hybrid.

However with prices expected to be around the $50k mark, the amazing Toyota-Subaru concept looks like it will be just as successful as its forefathers.

The Normal Person's Car Blog

Welcome to The Normal Person's Car Blog!

As the title suggests, this blog will focus on cars that relate more towards your everyday driver and not just ever new-fangled $300,000+ super car. Of course we might discuss the new BMW M1 or the Zonda every once in a while but these dreamy posts won't clog all the other valuable information that I hope to bring up here.

What this blog will relate to is the love of automotives, the pure harmony of a V8's purr, the sexy looks of that old '69 Charger; all while discussing the cup-holders in the latest Ford Focus.

I want to start my posts with the list of cars I have owned, from my first at age 13, until my latest. I am sure you will all be able to relate to the bombs, the smashes and the pile of sobering police tickets...
